Your journey to Bright

Sit back, relax and enjoy your drive to the Great Alpine Valleys today. If you are travelling via Milawa visit the Milawa Cheese Factory for a tasting, lunch or coffee.

If you are travelling from the north, you may wish to drive via Yackandandah, worth a stop just to ravel through the old wares and antiques. 

Magic Mt Buffalo

Pick up a Mt Buffalo Park Note from Reception to plan your activities today. Firstly visit the Bright Visitor Information Centre for an informative audio presentation featuring the surrounding National Parks. Enjoy morning tea at the Riverdeck Café overlooking the park and the Ovens River. 

Grab a picnic lunch from Food Wine Friends and head Mt Buffalo National Park. Make your way past waterfalls, lyre birds, wallabies and amazing rock formations all nestled among the forest of mountain ash and snow gums. Take the opportunity to do a bush walk or just relax and enjoy this gorgeous setting with your picnic. 

AFter some bushwalking why not indulge in coffee and cake at Brights newest foodie destination... Coral Lee, where everything is homemade with 50's retro love!

Wander around Wandi

This morning pop out to the historic village of Wandiligong and visit Nightingales Apple Orchard, giving you an opportunity to purchase some of our local produce. Get lost in the Wandi Maze for some fun.   

Visit the Red Stag Deer Farm in Eurobin for lunch, chat to the animals and take in the most breathtaking valley view imaginable. On your way back to Bright, visit Boyntons Winery for a relaxed glass of wine over looking Mt Buffalo… hmm magic.

Those Feet are made for Walking

This morning put on your walking shoes and pick up a Bright Map from reception. Enjoy the Canyon Walk and learn about Bright’s gold history along the way. Grab a salad roll for lunch and find a shady tree in Centenary Park by the river. 

Enjoy a spot of boutique shopping, one of Brights best little secrets. Take ‘Shannon’s Shopping Secrets’ list with you and have fun… find divine fabrics, local produce, beads and buttons, toys and games, French homewares, Christmas all year round, jewellery and handbags, scrapbook treasures, handmade icecream… and the list goes on.  Tonight you could treat yourself and dine at Simone’s of Bright or Poplars Restaurant

Beechworth and Berries

Start the day with a home cooked breakfast in the comfort of your guest room. Then make your way to the historic township of Beechworth.  Visit the Echo’s of History Historic Precinct incorporating the Bourke Museum, Court House, Telegraph Station & Chinese Cultural Centre.  There is also a 20min film about Beechworth at the Visitors Centre. 

Explore the gorgeous shops and cafes. After lunch visit the Beechworth Honey interpretive centre and take a walking tour around town discovering the historic buildings and hidden secrets.

On your way back to Bright visit the Bright Berry Farm, just past Eurobin. Pick some berries and taste the berry produce including sorbet, jam and wine. Arrive back at the Ovens Valley Motor Inn just in time for a swim.

Head to Harrietville

How about an early hit of tennis this morning to get the heart started, it is then time to experience Harrietville. Visit Verona at the Lavender Hue Lavender Farm for beautiful Devonshire Tea including a Lavender scone. Verona will entertain you with stories of the working farm and its beginnings. 

Visit the Harrietville dredge hole, once a working dredge now a tranquil lake. Have a bite of lunch at Morrie’s Café near Pioneer Park then indulge in some local history. It is then on to the Mountain Fresh Trout Farm where you can learn a thing or two about trout fishing.  Travel back down the valley to Bright and wheel straight into the Bright Brewery for a tasting of mountain crafted, award winning boutique beer. 

Cook your trout by the pool on the guest BBQ for dinner (just wrap it in some foil with lemon & olive oil) and enjoy with a local tasting plate. Visit the Bright Visitors Centre for a selection of gourmet delights. 

Mosie over to Mt Beauty

This morning travel to the Kiewa Valley via Tawonga Gap stopping at the lookout for a fantastic photo opportunity. Stop at The Alpine Discovery Centre in Mt Beauty, a state of the art interpretive centre boasting an extensive range of displays and DVD presentations on Falls Creek and the Upper Kiewa Valley. Also see the working miniature Hydro Electric plant. 

Explore Mt Beauty township and grab a picnic from the bakery before winding your way up the mountain to Bogong village, enjoy lunch by Lake Guy. Continue on to Falls Creek, pass by Rocky Valley reservoir and have the opportunity to walk into Wallace Hut, an original High Country Cattlemen’s Hut. Take in the scenery on your way back to the Ovens Valley Motor Inn. Order pizza delivered to your guest room or head out for Thai or Chinese.

Ride then Rejuvenate

Hire bikes from Cyclepath today and experience the Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail. Grab a guide from reception to plan your journey. Stop at the Rail Trail Café in Porepunkah for a coffee.  Continue on the Butter Factory in Myrtleford for lunch or ride back to Bright for the full range of lunch options. 

This afternoon indulge in a facial or massage at Bright Beauty Boutique. Then indulge with a Le Blanche handmade ice cream, you deserve it by now. 

Summer Alpine Discovery

Drive back to Harrietville and then make your way up Mt Hotham. Enjoy a stroll around the resort incorporating some of the most stunning views imaginable. Continue 10km along the Great Alpine Road to Dinner Plain, a relaxed alpine village nestled between the snow gums on the highest freehold land in Australia. Eat lunch at the hotel or a cafe and take a look at the extraordinary alpine architecture that is evolving on the mountain. 

This afternoon you could take a hike along one of the many trails (maps available at the village). Then treat yourself to a Japanese spa treatment at the Onsen Retreat and Spa.

For your last evening in Bright, celebrate and dine at the secluded Villa Gusto in Buckland Valley overlooking Mt Buffalo.
